On Friday, August 22 from 5 to 10 p.m., The Dam Youth Drop-in will hold its second annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament at the Meadowvale Community Centre, located at 6655 Glen Erin Dr.

This outdoor event will also include a BBQ and live music performances.

"We're expecting over 80 participants between the ages of 15 and 20," says Gerry Small, The Dam's Youth Outreach Co-ordinator.

"In addition, we are expecting a number of other community members to attend the BBQ and watch the tournament."

The Dam Youth Drop-in is a non-profit organization that has been a friend and resource to youth in Mississauga for over 12 years.

Tax receipts will be issued for all donations.

This will be an opportunity for The Dam and for the rest of the community to connect with a specific group of youth who tend to be marginalized, and are currently only connecting with one another. The effect of this community event on marginalized youth is not to be discounted, as youth are generally used to being the group who is either largely ignored or simply courted for their spending potential.

"An event like this is definitely something the youth will remember," says Small.

To register, Facebook Gerry Small or call him at 416-737-3045.
