This Saturday, June 6 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on
Main Street in Streetsville
Whether you are getting ready to head up to the cottage, packing up your bags for a summer vacation, or just planning to sit in your back yard and relax, it’s time to stock up on your summer reading materials at the Annual Animal Aid Foundation Read For Pets® Charity Used Book Sale.
The sale is being sponsored by the Streetsville Business Improvement Association and will take place one day only, from sun-up until sundown, on Main Street in the Village of Streetsville, during the Bread and Honey Festival. Tables will be restocked as inventory is sold, with proceeds going to the veterinary medical care programs of local animal charities.
“We were looking for an event to round out our summer schedule” says Lorraine Baddeley, General Manager of the Streetsville BIA. “The Animal Aid Foundation Read For Pets® Charity Used Book sale is the purr-fect event”.
“And we are thrilled to move our event to Streetsville ” say Foundation volunteers and book sale organizers Linda Collins and Mary Dagg. “In fact partnership between the Foundation and the Streetsville BIA is truly a win/win situation for all involved – the merchants, the Foundation, and especially the public who will be able to browse through a huge selection of books at bargain prices.
During the last few months the Foundation has been overwhelmed with donations from the community and volunteers have sorted through more than 30,000 books for the event. In fact, the Foundation has so much more inventory than they have tables to display them on, that book sale organizers are already planning a second sale for later this year.
The June book sale will feature thousands of books – both fiction and non-fiction – at great prices. And CDs, DVDs and videos too.
“The selection varies from year to year because we never know what we’re going to receive” say Collins and Dagg. “This year the Foundation has received a huge number of cookbooks, kids books and movies.”
From kids books to cooking, fiction to finance and science to sports, and more than 35 subject categories on the tables, there is sure to be something for everyone. Best of all, every dollar you spend helps Animal Aid Foundation help animals in need. So buy a book and feel good – because you got a good deal, and you did a good deed.
