If you want to share your views on the future of your community, specifically Port Credit, you need to be aware of TOPCA.
The Town of Port Credit Association (TOPCA) was started in November 2006 to provide a voice for all who live or work in the Port Credit District, from Seneca Avenue on the eastern boundary, to the Shawnmarr Road development on the west edge, and from the Lake north to the CNR line.
Here are announcements gleaned from their website, www.topca.net, regarding upcoming important meetings relating to the future of Port Credit. There’s much more valuable information there, too, including information about the 50th Anniversary of Port Credit Arena and the new skating rink at Memorial Park.
On Monday, February 2 at 7 p.m., a Public Meeting under the Ontario Planning Act regarding the ‘No Frills’ Site Development will be held in the Council Chamber at City Hall (300 City Centre Dr.) by the Planning and Development Committee of Council.
The proposal for the development on the ‘No Frills’ site requires amendments to the Zoning By-Law and the Port Credit District Policies. This meeting will include a presentation by the applicant, and the opportunity for the public to make comment and ask questions. The community input will be used to evaluate the application.
The developer’s complete visual presentation at the Ward 1 Community Meeting on June 26, 2008 at Clarke Hall is available on the TOPCA website.
On Thursday, February 5 at 6:45 p.m., a community meeting on the subject of Technology vs. Text will be held in the Texaco Room at the Port Credit Library. Hosted by the Port Credit Village Project and sponsored by The Rotary Club—Lakeshore Mississauga, the meeting will consist of a debate followed by discussion concerning the struggle between the digital world of the internet and information technology and the hard copy world of the book. How do these differing formats affect the design of the spaces that house them? Come prepared to share your ideas and opinions.
